It has been the common consensus here that the changing hexagram has been called the relating hexagram and that it represents the contextual background of the reading. I have no problem with that view other than it, to me, is seeing it through one eye only. Often it is easier and more helpful to look at it that way. But it is like asking: What is the cause of the effect, and what is the effect of the cause? They each relate to the other so they're both relating hexagrams. But only one is the result of change.

Daily meditation mixed up with work stress reading
Oh wow, I have not been on this forum for years, since the last time, many things have changed. I got married, change a couple jobs, moved to a different country. All good, I try o keep the hard times out of my reality, I recommend it to everyone.
Anyway, the last time I was on the forum was when I got fed up with everything that was going on around me and said I was going to take a break, well the break was about 4 years, here is my big come back! Haha...
I actually asked two questions today, the first one is:
What should my next move be concerning my career?
And I realized that I need a broader answer so I asked:
What do I need to know now?
Lately I have been feeling extremely overwhelmed at my job, I am stressed, I drag my feet when going in, it even starts the night before, I start thinking of excuses not to go in... Well, you get the picture...
Last week it even showed on my body and I had to rush into ER because my neck and back muscles decided that they weren't going to work anymore! See, it is all work related, nothing in my existence wants to work right now! Gosh, I am hilarious...
I have had the idea of working for myself, a couple of ideas here and there but nothing that gave me an a-ha feeling, or maybe I am just scared of my ideas.
For "What should my next move be concerning my career?" question I got the following:

Great Exceeding to to Pushing Upward, come on now I Ching, don't tease me.
In great exceeding, the key questions from Hilary were: What is overloaded?, What have you outgrown?, What must you do?
Which are the exact questions that I have, I overloaded myself, I outgrew my career path and as to the last part, I don't quite know my dear.
And after all the confusion, it tells me it is fruitful to have a direction and it will create success, which makes my heart sing. I love it, but what is the direction?
My question to everyone who bared with me until now and read this thread is,
Can you open up The ridgepole warps part a little please?
And I understand that a transition is way overdue and my body, spirit and nerves do not support what I am so desperately trying to hold onto: working at a job that doesn't make me happy anymore but not knowing how to get out of that cycle. I have a feeling that my lovely I Ching is telling me that if I don't gather up the courage to make the move soon, it will all collapse on me. It is telling me that I am stressed (oh well, we all knew that), but there is a purpose awaiting me, I should start the movement to the success that awaits. Okay, well, thanks for the encouragement, but which way?

Are you telling me to be brave and just quit my job? or are you telling me to be brave and make your move without fearing what your spouse's reaction will be to this decision?

This gives me the idea that I Ching just told me the same thing with different phrasing. It is encouraging me, telling me that it is waiting for me out there and just telling me to go get it. As much as this makes me happy and gives me the green light, I am a little stuck on how to. So does anyone have a good example question for me to ask on that?
The thing that made me laugh is at Hexagram 46, the oracle says "Do not worry, set forth to the south, good fortune"
I have been wanting to visit my friend who lives in LA for a long time now. I have this feeling in me that tickles me and somehow tells me that I will find answers if I just go there. So I took that part very literally.

mythological creature lines
I suddenly thought just now about animals and their specific lines - not necessarily real animals, ones that would fit nicely into a line. Butterfly spider - and 27.6 for example, where a beautiful winged spider could quickly ascend mountains but easily fly down again - a creature who had developed all the best bits of both species and yet managed to jettison those that were not as good. I am not sure if there is a flying spider, there must be somewhere on the planet......
From now on I will always think of this line as a butterfly spider. line 26.6 is my favourite line and I had always thought of it as 'my ' line, but it does lead to hex 27......

Love my new place but.....51>40
I've moved into a lovely new place - very close to nature and I love my new landlady and we're both sure we're at the beginning of a new friendship.
She has two daughters who live here too....one who is 12 and annoying as only girls of that age can be but it's understandable and bearable and a daughter who is 18 who is doing her best to make me feel unwelcome.
Apparently she has CFS symptoms after battling glandular fever a couple of years ago....I understand that as I had the same thing. However I've seen no signs of it yet. She's supposed to be doing an art major at uni and she's very talented but apparently she just gets too tired to keep up.
On the weekend she went out to the very early hours of the morning and then had to walk home which would be at least a 5km walk. The next day she went to work for 8 hours and then yesterday I don't exactly know where she was but she wasn't home.
Today however she's home watching TV and then at lunchtime her bf came over with takeaway and they're having a lovely time together but making sure they know that they're ignoring me and hate me being around.
I have my own beautiful space but I do have to go upstairs to use the kitchen.

What are the finances? 17.6 - 25
We are looking to move and have found a house we like. I really wanted to ask "Can we afford it?" (meaning not so much the initial cost but the upkeep) but as that is a yes-or-no question I rephrased it to "what are the finances of this house?" I received 17.6 - 25. Over in Wiki Wing Lisa has posted an experience with this line where she was faced with a pile of chores to do and found she was able to complete them by taking them one at a time. Perhaps for my question this means we will be able to handle the maintenance issues as they come up. Or would this mean constant maintenance issues? Or something else entirely?

I am dying to settle down with my partner. We are both enthusiastic about getting a house together. We already live together in a place he bought before we met. Our finances are limited. I am saving away but have a while to go before i could apply for a mortgage. I don't know whether its worth holding out for a place we may never be able to afford or compromise for a smaller, cheaper place or just be happy with the small place we have already. The compromise could put a lot of strain on our relationship.

I've been a user for a few months (free), purchased tonight.

I love the Journal software for the translations of Bradford Hatcher and Hilary Barrett with a slight preference for Hilary's translation/interpretation because it feels a bit softer. I really like Bradford's as well but sometimes I find it a bit more difficult to identify with the meaning.
I have two questions for now;
1/. Have you considered yet producing the Resonance Journl for Android? As I'm away from my PC quite a bit, I really hope that you produce a version of the journal for Android eventually.
2/. Where can I get a copy (electronic or physical) of Hilarys Iching? I have a PDF of Bradford Hatcher's and use it everyday during breaks @ work ... but have to wait until I get home to read the alternative text.

How to 'gain a home'?
As a follow up to a cast that said 'gaining servants, not a home'...I had asked the yi, this question.
The answer was 52.3.6 - 2
Line 3 obviously is very troubling.
I suppose it might be referring to the point of beyond exhaustion that I feel, in this limbo state of being.
If I can somehow not let my 'heart' wither away in the futile miasma of stuckness, and the utter inertia of not knowing where to go, what to do...breathe through it somehow, and feel the potent mix of feeling that is awaiting to be felt, then I can abide in the midst in all, be present to the stuckness without stifling the movement of feelings within, the not wanting to be 'here'...then a greater stillness, a bigger hearted beingness might 'land' me into the space of pure receptivity to ALL That IS?
Now could someone wash off the 'bigness' of my interpretation...and present a more 'down to earth' and practical viewpoint to help ground the stilling into being?

Intention in Making Contact 15.2.5
Hello all,
I'm trying to take a break from relationship worries these days. But just when I was beginning to feel a bit better (after several days of staying in, meditating, and self care) I heard from someone that I recently had a relationship with that was brief but left me a little off-balance. He sent me a friendly enough text congratulating me on a recent professional accomplishment. It was nice enough, but I really wondered what to make of it. I responded politely, and that was it. But in my mind there was no reason for the contact. And he does not normally randomly contact me like that... So I asked "What were his intentions in contacting me?" I'm just curious, as I'm really still trying to make sense of what happened with that one and what to expect in the future. I've gotten 48 in some capacity quite a bit when asking about him. I've been working hard on returning to my "well" so wonder if there is some commentary there regarding him, because I AM taking the IChing's advice (and working hard on it) if that is it. In fact I had not even asked a single IChing question in many days. And quite oddly the second I asked one I got that text..:duh: I've also gotten 63 and 63.3 repeatedly when asking about the relationship since doing my self work. Is it saying, it's not over until it's over or what?

I'm a male primary teacher and joined a new school at the start of the year. I'm the only male teacher there and have struggle so far to make any fiends there. People say hello, but generally avoid chatting. I feel people are a bit wary of me and are very cliquey. So I have been into the IChing for several years but have been interpreting things on my own. I'm glad I found this site and this is my first post!
The answer given to "How do I make new friends at work" had no changing lines and was " The Wanderer". It is very "me", I do get bored easily at jobs and have move around schools in my teaching career quite a bit. But as so far has making friends, not sure what the I Ching is trying to say? I have taken the last year off to organise my work, edit something like a book I wrote the year before and fine hone a sprawling social platform. I have lived with my lovely partner (I worked with this forum two years ago I'm getting over my issues with romantic relationships and it was very helpful, thank you. Hopefully I've provided all the updates) and he has supported me financially. I am now finding that I have a serious issue when it comes to employment. I have no reason to have the same anxieties that have plagued for most if my working life and yet the fear of being rejected and not knowing how to present myself to the world is much greater than I imagined. I want to earn my own money and contribute to our life together and gain the sense of self and achievement this brings. I did the iching and asked "what do I do about my attitude to employment?" I received 19.1.2 > 2.

62 unchanging. A destiny of transition(s) ?
It's my 1st post here,and I'll try to be brief. I asked the Oracle if my life will always be in transition. Or,how long? Not really from a particular Home place,(2nationalitys)many moves,disfunctional family issues. Settled(sort of) in a very remote village since a dozen of years. Very restricted financially. I love simplicity,but get 'cabin fever',recieving 62 is interesting. I do not read this as a prediction but the state of mind I'm in. What else can be noted? Any suggestions?

This reading has made me so happy that I just wanted to share!!!
Having been forced to leave Sussex after just one year due to a relationship break down, I have felt somewhat adrift in term of what next, I lost a lot of material things which I ad built up over the last 12 years since moving back to the uk from the States where a similar thing happened (yes patterns!! I'm working on that!)before moving to Sussex I'd been renting a lovely flat and I had a lovely black cat, all gone in this last break up, and I had to return to my mothers box room in London with my tail between my legs and my heart broken and my confidence shattered. I had returned to the Yi during this difficult time to help navigate these turbulent waters and find my new direction and apparently I'm doing ok, and I feel good considering. Anyway after my questioning today, and some unexpected answers I though to ask What if I move make to Sussex and got Hex 1 . 5 > 14 and it has put the biggest smile on my face and joy in my heart! I have no idea how I will make it happen but I am hopeful that the journey back will be smoother than what it took for me to leave!

I Ching acting as an opponent.
Some months ago I received a reading which included a line whose commentary described the I Ching as acting in opposition to the querent. I thought I read this commentary in the Wilhelm I Ching but I'm not absolutely certain. I've searched the Wilhelm I Ching without success.
