To give some background on my situation: Almost three years ago I was seriously injured and ended up with major permanent damage that left me unable to walk properly. I am suing a hospital for negligence. The case is quite complicated and no agreeable settlement has been reached yet. The suit was filed over a year ago. The trial date is fast approaching (less than 3 weeks away now). I have an excellent medical malpractice trial lawyer who took my case on contingency. However, these things can always go either way. It is possible the hospital will wait until just before the start of the trial to make a significant offer to settle. It is also possible it will go to trial and I will be put through a few weeks of high stress testimony with an outcome of a win or loss depending on the how the jury finds. Needless to say, this is a very stressful time for me as without the compensation I feel it is likely I may lose my house. The financial situation from this has become unbearable. I'm only in my early 40's. With the money a settlement provides, it is possible that I could afford to receive some experimental treatments that are not covered by insurance but could help improve my quality of life tremendously.
I asked the question of how will the outcome of the lawsuit turn out, in my favor or not, and will it really be resolved in the next month or so as the trial date is upon me. Then I tossed and got hexagram 64 "Before Completion". Also, couldn't be just a coincidence that the same day I was at the grocery store and when I took a number at the deli, I got 64.
The way I read it (using Wilhelm and my intuition), it seems this hexagram is saying it could go either way. The following is what I wrote in my journal about the reading:
Things are in motion still. Changes are prepared for. Proceed with caution. Deliberation. Two opposite forces which cannot meet. However, if I were to arrive at the correct point of view myself, then everything works out well for me. Hold back and resist temptation to advance to quickly. Before completion attack brings misfortune. When time of transition arrives don't force it or disaster will result. A decisive step will be required (perhaps this is saying that I need to be prepared to accept an offer which is way lower than I expected and I should really consider it carefully before just rejecting the offer). Be strong in resolution (on the other hand maybe I don't need to accept an offer that is lower than I need, maybe this is saying I need to make sure I don't let on that I have any fears about going to trial). It will be a fierce battle to break them. If I allow my misgivings to be overcome and my true personality to shine through, than victory will be won and there will be a rebirth from the misery of the old. If victory is one, don't get too drunk on one's own prosperity. Confidence is good, but not over confidence. The hexagram could signify the end finally to the chaos.
So all of that being said, I have to wonder how much of the reading is actually advice to me personally, or if it just giving me a reading for my lawyer. At this point in the lawsuit, the lawyer is the one who is in control of the situation. The lawyer is the one making decisions, filing motions with the court, and ultimately negotiating with the defense lawyer. I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on this and what you think about getting this hexagram as the answer in relation to lawsuit questions.
