This is interesting. I really think I understand some of what Yi is trying to tell me on this casting, and I thought I'd share.
So, prior to the whirlwind romance with Mr. B, I had been dating another gentleman, who I will refer to as A. After weekly dates and a nice progression for about a month, his contact slowed and he dropped off the planet. He reached out after that first weekend of not seeing me with a "How was your weekend?" text. I just didn't reply, since B was on the scene. A couple of weeks later, A asked me out again. I let him know that things had started with B and I thought it had long term potential. A handled that gracefully and wished me luck.
Now that B is no longer on the scene, A has returned and asked me out this evening. I'm curious how that will go, since it has been about six weeks since I've seen him. I asked Yi, "How will my date with A go on Friday?" and received Hexagram 54.3>34.
I think Yi is reflecting the situation back to me. A is the concubine, so to speak. He waited patiently while I was involved with B. I also see the 34 as reflecting A's loyalty. The 54 really strikes home for me as he is a secondary choice. There was something lacking between us, it could be because of how introverted he is and I don't feel A is always the best conversationalist or communicator. A isn't nearly as flashy as B is. He's more reserved and reflective at times. However, given how things went with B, a slow burn may be the better choice.
However, I always felt no matter what that A is a good man and would be awesome as a boyfriend or husband for someone. Regardless of what happens Friday, I know that I will have a good time and enjoy his company. It may not be the instant "soulmate connection" and I'm ok with that.
