I want to share this book with you. It's out of print now, but you can get it through used book stores. It's called "the man of many qualities, The legacy of the Iching " 1968 by R. G. H. Siu. He relates every hexagram and line to a quote from literature. It's an amazing body of work.

hexagram 22 changing lines 2 and 5 to hexagram 9.
line 2 seems to me like the first days of a relationship... beautiful words are spoken but there is no love as love is something that comes later. Line 5 seems to show true feelings...but what about hexagram 9? does it show marriage? or raise a child? :o

"why did i act that way towards him?" and Yi's answer, 26.1.2.5 to 53.I have been dating a guy. We met long ago and feel atraction and reecounter again. (I am sorry English is not my first language). Sometimes he makes plans and then turn me down. Today he called me for meeting and suddenly his father was calling and he said he needed to end the call. He then texted me saying he had something to do at 4 pm so he cannot meet me. I Ching Readings from 53.2> 57
Hi, I asked I Ching whether a change in the course of my action will be favorable to me and whether we will achieve what we want in the end (getting a house we want in our desired area) and I got Hexagram 53 changing to Hexagram 57. A brief background: I have been house hunting for 6 mths and trying to sell my place for 3 mths. We have only found a few houses we kind of like but not like the one. We encountered a lot of obstacles selling our house so we have decided not to sell it before buying a new one now. From my understanding, it means that I am heading in the right direction and will achieve what we desire in the end Am I right about it? Does it work if we ask 2 questions in one divination? Thank you for your help in advance!

58.2.4>3 Lost dog
Due to a chain of irresponsible actions (I'd say they are just plain stupid), a dog a friend of mine was taking care of ran away. Long story short: Waffles is a stray dog my friend rescued. She couldn't keep Waffles for too long because she's allergic. She also has a cat already, so she started searching for somebody to adopt him. This girl from literally the other side of the country offered. My friend declined, but this girl insisted because "she fell in love with Waffles", so a month later when nobody nearby called, my friend accepted to give her the dog. This girl didn't even have money to go take the dog so they ask for donations and they agree to send the dog by plane with that money.
Basically these people thought it was a great idea to put a stray dog on a cage and send him in a 3 hour flight to a town far away, and that the dog would be fine with it. He clearly wasn't.
Anyways, my friend took good care of Waffles while she had him at her house, and she really got to love him so she's totally brokenhearted. She missed work, she's restless from so much searching by herself and lost money printing posters, paying taxi cabs...needless to say the person who wanted Waffles to be delivered to her door has done NOTHING but cry on facebook.
I asked about it all and got 9.3 to 61. I think this one's speaking about me: I was pretty angry about this because I couldn't believe how everybody involved was so inept. I even had trouble for calling them out because "my attitude was not helpful". I also can't help much because I live far from there and have no money to go or donate.
I then asked "How is Waffles doing?" And got 17.5 to 51. I'm not sure about this one: I told my friend that she should have faith that Waffles would return by himself since dogs are smart animals. I had the feeling 17.5 is saying that he is indeed trying to go back to my friend's place. (Hope so.)
Then I asked what can she do so it is more likely that she finds him and got 58.2.4>3. I don't get this one: It mostly seems to point out the fact that she severely needs a rest. Perhaps she should just wait at home? Also, does line 58.2 suggest that she should keep searching alone?
I also asked what can I do to help her and got 21 uc. As always, any insights are appreciated.

I've met a person on internet one month ago and I am perplexed as he is interesting and caring but conversation just does not flow, I don't feel close to him. We met a few times and he sends me messages several times a day. I dont want to be too demanding and anxious in relationships, so I am trying to be more open. But I dont know if I should just stop if I dont feel close.
Its all about how to deal with my rigidity and follow or not instincts.

Tricky answers 55.3.4>24
Sometimes I find answers can be tricky to really know what they're saying as there can be sooooo many variables on the answer - do we go with our emotion, our desire or our 'gut' feeling when we look for an interpretation:
My question is based on a potential relationship that ended before it even got started -
What do I need to know about my connection with him

An Abundant Return - now is that Return to self in Fullness or he Returns and the relationship between us are going to knows no bounds.
In Line 3 there was a 'Thunderous' Hexagram 51 moment (or two) which led to misunderstandings and the breakdown of the relationship.
The breakup of the relationship upset me a lot - again perhaps Hex 51 fits here too and my initial response was to close myself again, against meeting anyone new.
However in Line 4 through the Hexagram 36 Hiding my Light initially, my process actually has allowed me to realise, that by closing myself up I'm missing out on wonderful experiences in my life for something I wasn't to blame for.
So instead of closing my Heart I have worked on opening my Heart up more and more which to me then reflects the Fullness of Hex 55.
I guess this post should really be in Exploring Divination if someone wants to move it. Thanks

55 Unchanging for how to finally get a job?
Job hunting has been completely awful for me and very fruitless. I've consulted Yi and asked, "All I need to do to find a new job in my field is ________ "
And Hexagram 55 unchanging popped up.
Being that it's about abundance, my guess that it's advice is the ol "throw 'em against the wall and see what sticks"? (Apply to jobs indiscriminately).

Hi all,I haven't had a lot of luck in a love department recently for one reason or another and also have some other problems in my life which I'm however is capable to resolve. Then I've met someone online but there were just way to many red flags about this person and I have broken it off before even meeting in real life. Problem is: I'm still thinking about this person even though it's been over a month now and they haven't tried to contact me or anything.And today I've asked I Ching: 'What is going to happen in my love and relationship live and what should I do if anything' and got the above result which looks quite good to me but I'm not sure would it be just return to myself, turning point, new start?Thank you all for any help and advice in advance!

Hey everyone! It's been a while and I am sorry I have been away so long, but full-time work and school makes for a busy body.
I had this really strange thing happen today. I was driving down the road and my phone rang. It said, "No Caller ID." I let it go to voicemail, which they did not leave, and they called right back 4 more times right on top of one another. I answered the 4th and 5th calls. On the 4th, there was nothing there. The 5th, I pressed the mute button and listened for a full minute. I finally said, "Hello?" and when no one answered, I disconnected. This is a relatively new number, so I never get weird calls. I asked Yi, "Who called me?" The answer was 32.3.6>64.

I was thinking maybe one of those robo, telemarketer callers, (accepting a shameful gift) but I've had those before and they never call 5 times in a row back-to-back. They also usually show their number.
Now, I did have to call the SBI (State Bureau of Investigation--I'm in the US) today because I am the person who runs the background checks for new employees. It was in regards to residents who have not lived in our state for 5 years. In this instance, we have to get their fingerprints and send them to the SBI for a federal background check. I am new at this, so of course I did it all wrong, and the first one sent off was sent right back to me. At the bottom of the page that states the corrections, it says that we need to call to verify authorized officials. So, I called. The lady who answered was completely confused and said some rather absurd things to me, ("Are you calling for the FBI? Because 'authorized officials' sounds very serious." Me: ?????) She eventually put me through to someone who may or may not have known what I was talking about, but I got the voicemail. I didn't really want to deal with all that at the moment, as I was trying to do payroll as well, so I hung up. I thought perhaps it may have been them calling back. I did use my cell to place the call. But wouldn't they have left a message?
This is not very important, but I wanted to see if I could pick the brains of you wonderful people. Just curious if anyone has insights according to the reading. I am at a complete loss.

What does my colleague want from me? 3.1.3 39
Since 4 months I have been working at what I believed would be my dreamjob. I got it almost immediately after graduating and I couldn't believe my luck when I got it. There where a lot of people applying for my job, most of them with much more experience then me. I work together with alot of people with different specializations. There is one colleague who does what I do and she has over 16 years of experience in the field. She always worked alone before they created my job. I was looking up to her in the beginning, hoping we would get to work together so that I could learn from her. That we would have a 'click'. Sadly this has not been the case at all. She does give me feedback when I ask for it but that's about it. I have seen her on much more familiar terms with her intern a few months ago, so I can't help but starting to think that she just doesn't like me or approve of me... She acts reserved around me, neutral where as she can be really familiar with other colleagues. I was hoping that by now she would have warmed up to me a little but no such luck. I love doing my job as a drug counsellor and I get to learn something new every day. It would help if my colleague would warm up a little to me though. I still have a lot of insecurities and I don't feel like I can really rely on my colleague for support.

meditation and shock
I've started a 4 week daily meditation, meant to transform habitual feelings and thought patterns. Yesterday I focused on sadness and today it was resentment and regret. I'll continue on like this, not just during meditation but throughout the day too. I asked the I Ching how my meditation practice would affect my life and got 51 unchanging. I just think it's so interesting! I used to be scared of 51 but now I see it as huge transformation. Maybe with some discomfort, but transformation nonetheless.

Hi, this message is just to let the many people who answered to my question when I felt with no hope, no friends and no job that there are not only bad news. I am very happy now: still alone but I ended my film and this give me a lot of self confidence, and I found a job, my job! I am writing for a newspaper on line :) Today while I was eating I understood that I had even lost my temper, I was never in peace for the small things, like eating. And all of a sudden I discovered the peace of small things again. So I asked if I will keep this mood and the answer was Great possession and radical change. It seems to me very positive. career path--Increase!
I've been researching different graduate schools and found a program and a school that i think i'll love. Also, I've been a yoga/meditation teacher for years and want to bring that to my private therapy practice. I asked, how will becoming a LPC(licensed professional counselor) and meditation instructor affect my life, and got 42 Unchanging. I've been rocking the unchangings lately! Hexagram 44: "Do Not Take This Woman!"
It's slightly discouraging, or at least... sombre... that 90% of the time I throw for the relationship I'm currently in, I get #44: Coupling, which contains the oracle given above. One interpretation: and energy that you can benefit from, but not control, and which doesn't last. Another interpretation: an energy which is powerful but which you should just not "grab," but respect. Any takes on this hexagram?
