hexagram 12 and quitting a job
I am considering leaving a job without having another job lined up. This could be considerably risky but also free me up to find new work. I also have personal reasons in this workplace for wanting to leave with some urgency. 12 is very confusing because the judgement seems to say I will be blocked and that only small things will come but I cast 12.1.3.4 -> 37. The lines seem auspicious but the image of Blocked to People in the Home looks like a bad unemployment situation. What is the oracle stating will happen if I leave without work already lined up?

Moving countries help reading
Hello I ching community,
I posted a week ago about my readings in regards to my now ex partner, whom I really cared for and whom I really love, but our relationship is over unfortunately. As I result I feel like the whole world slipping from under my feet and I feel a big change is coming to my life (losing the flat that we had, working on my issues through therapy and so on)
I have long been thinking and saying that I want to leave the place I live and now I am thinking that it might it is the right time, so I asked I ching:
Should I move out from UK to another country?
I received 6.1.6.>58
And.... I am completely puzzled by what conflict and the changing lines might mean! What I am getting from it is that, currently, it isn't the right time to decide? That I should wait and figure out what I need through time and that observance might give me clues? (I kinda got that from the changing lines).
Any insights into this? It would be so helpful! I am in a completely lost and dark times here, so am asking for iching to give me some clarity and well now I am asking the community to give me some clarity upon the iching's clarity, confusing, i know!

like... the instructors make me pressure because they get paid but i want to chill out and do when i want and with my times... and also, i need to overcome the fear i have 64.5 is totally gooooooooooooooooooooodno need to say anything... why then 6?perhaps i will fnd the right instructor who doesnt make pressure?

2048: No fish in the sea. 7.4 - 40
I just heard a prediction from an environmentalist that due to pollution and over fishing there will no longer be fish in the oceans by 2048. I asked the I Ching for a comment. I received 7.4 - 40. I am wanting help in interpreting what this might be saying. I think 7. The Army could be referring to the fish, like an army of fish.

Landlords and my flat - update Hex 57.5.6>46
Hi guys, an update regarding whether my landlords will go on with the apartment sell or not- I just got an email from the guy saying
HI Luke we are about to contact some property valuers to look at and value the apartment to help us make a final decision re selling. Before i contact them and arrange a time to view the apartment I want to know if you want to be present or not. Either way is fine with us. Let us know days and times that work for you for us to arrange the viewings.
So, I asked "whether it will be beneficial for my case and willing to stay here if I STAY here during the evaluation?" I received:

So, that is interesting. I thing as Hex 57 is about dispersing my own energy, and 46 is about growth, I would say it is more good for me to remain here- maybe they will have less time to do it well, or put a lower price, or something else that cannot be predicted? Initially I was like ''sure I will help them out and remove myself from the flat for that time, or tell them to come here when I will be at work'' but who knows which version is better... Line 1 of hex 24 ''Turning point'' says that

so that short distance might be myself vacating the flat for them to do the evaluation, and then Hex 2 line 1 says about winter and ice, so probably not so good... but in the first casting Hex 57 line 6 says
Penetration under the bed, losing property and an ax = perseverance brings misfortune. Changes to (48) The Well. By trying too hard or too quickly to apply change to the situation you may actually lose it. The Well suggests how a situation appears to change when in actuality it does not.
so that sounds also not so nice. So , as usual I am stuck :( please advise

What is Prayer and how does it differ from Divination?
Hello Yi Folks,
I dithered whether this should go in SR or ED, but since it's a shared reading about exploring divination I'll leave it here for now...
I keep reading books etc that tell me about the power of prayer and talk about praying but I never really can understand what is meant by praying. Is it talking to 'God' (whatever that means), is it asking the universe for stuff, is it just sitting in silence, or what? I wondered whether my interactions with Yi could count as praying since divination is, literally, or etymologically at least, communicating with the divine. Not when you simply ask future questions, but if you really sit with the energy that us almost palpable through yi.
Anyway, I asked 'is prayer being in contact with the divine or is it asking for something?' 49.1 > 31 (bound with the hide of a yellow ox...?)
Then I asked: 'What is the purpose of prayer?' 12.5 > 35 (cease the hindrance)
'How does one pray?' 11uc (peace, heaven and earth unite)
'How does one find peace?' 25uc. (truthfulness, innocence)
'Is communicating with Yi a form of prayer?' 9.1.4 > 44 (return to the way, fear gives way - 44 is an encounter - with what?)
What I understand from this is that communication with yi is a means of dealing with anxiety while prayer is a way of actively transmuting a problem into its solution. Prayer is achieved through oneness with heaven (or the divine), which isn't the same as asking for things (or even speaking at all).
I'm not sure I'm totally clear on what prayer is but I've got a little food for thought, at least.

Change of career direction 24.3 > 36
It has been quite a while since I was last here. My original username was JoeCampbell but I have changed country and email address since last time and have lost all the log in details...anyhow, that person is me. And how right it all was! I moved back to England after 18 years in Denmark, I am now engaged to the woman I had met through work just before the move and frankly life is great!But...my employer has been struggling and bearing in mind that we are a company of c85 people, we have been though some hefty changes this year, including: change of CEO, closure of our office in Asia, some redundancies and the voluntary departure of some longstanding colleagues. Now the London office, where I am based, has just lost its boss too! He has decided to leave. Hes a good guy and now we are looking for a replacement and we will probably get 18 months to make it work, or.....Now, what this means is that we all have to become salespeople, we have to sell, sell, sell to survive. But I, just like all my colleagues, am not a salesman, I am a people developer and a consultant. One way out of this is for me to start looking elsewhere, and one option is to go inhouse, in other words, to join a company (not a consultancy) as their head of leadership development or suchlike. So I asked Yi the question what advantage in going inhouse? And the reponse came back 24 changing line 3, to 36.Is this Returning to what I once did (inhouse work), or is it keeping my head down (36) and allowing things to return (24) to normal where I am - which seems pretty unlikely right now.I am inclined to put my energies into looking for something else, but not if it puts me on the wrong path....Your thoughts gratefully received

question of disrespect > 22 unchanging
Hello fellow diviners,
Ive been in the process of reevaluating my relationships and as a follow up question to a reading on how to approach someone I care about, I asked whats disrespectful about this person A telling me that person B hates me and got 22 unchanging.
I found the whole situation childish, but also got upset, as on some level felt it was equally disrespectful to both me and person B. I couldnt find good enough explanation however, to justify my feelings, and so I looked to I Ching for help
Could the unchanging nature of the answer mean in this case just absolute lack of grace? Or would the image of the hexagram be more of a clue, pointing to light on the mountain, as if Ive only started to uncover the tip of the iceberg with this simple question (either in regards to this person's behaviour or the matter of respect in general)? I might have read it even somewhere here before, but this hexagram reminds me of Plato's Cave, in this situation the person A being in "power" so to say, is casting shadows of actual reality on mine and person's B canvas, mountain... ?

Dealing with difficult break up 45.3 > 31
Hello Iching community,
I would like to ask you if you could kindly to help me interpret the answer that I received from the Iching. After reading relationship reading advice and giving up on questions such as what could bring us back together and so on, I decided to ask:
What attitude should I have towards mine and X break up?
H. 45.3 > 31
The hexagram and the changing line seem to imply a gathering of a company where one (me I guess) is an outsider. I guess it maybe refers to mine and X relationship as a gathering that is not working with me becoming as an outisder in this gathering.
I have read this interpretation, which suggested I can do nothing about this breakup and that I should not invest any energy into trying to get us back together as it will just be more painful? What I have to do is to keep going with my life. I mean of course this would be the logic in any break up, but my hopes of somehow us getting back together are still at the back of my mind even if i realise this. The quote:
"This gathering is not harmonious- and because it is charged with such intense emotion you are acutely vulnerable here. The more you invest the more painful it gets. This is no longer a purposeful gathering: its become a drama with no positive choice you could make that could lead to acheivement. So rather than ask loaded questions about where this is going, it is more important just to keep going anyway. The story need not end here. You may feel as if you really ought to be acheiving more with this gathering-but hoping for more and making greater efforts is exactly what leads to lamenting.

Yet some other interpretations suggest this:
"Communication may be suffering and you feel that leaving is the only option. However, Wooing is a message that shows attraction and the desire to achieve union. You may need to work through the difficulties rather than abandon the situation."
That is slightly different and maybe imply that I shouldn't give up on our relationship and go through difficulties, rather then for example leaving it? Or would it also suggest dealing with my for example mental issues in order to achieve union?

hex 6.2> 12 truth and feelings
Hello everyone. I asked for help from yi to clarify a situation that has long made me feel bad. I got out of a story with a guy who left me without much explanation, or rather disappeared. Things went on in an uncertain and always a little ambiguous way until we talked about us. At the time he did not know what he wanted, but he did not want to commit himself. I did not believe he would disappear. The fact is that I can not be free from this situation because it is as if it had not had an end for me. He has completely closed the contacts with me, I tried to write to him but without an answer and I do not understand the reason for his gesture since there was no quarrel, on the contrary he told me that we would see each other. I found myself wondering who he really was, because the person I had thought I knew would not have behaved like that.Had he never been sincere?.Since then I have not looked for him, but I was so hurt, hurt and confused, without an answer to my doubts. I have often blamed myself, wondering what I could have done to bring us to this situation and I can not manage . it's like I can not forgive myself. I asked yi "can you help me to understand if he has gone away because of me? hex 6.2> 12.I really need to feel free to find my peace and come back to trust people.

(How) will I get better? 32.3 > 40 and 31.2.5 > 32
So Ive been ill for more than a decade now and am actually bed bound from it. It occurred to me to ask the I Ching Will I ever regain (part) of my health?. The first hexagram I got was 32 (Duration), which of course is quite fitting for my current situation. The changing line said:If a man remains at the mercy of moods of hope or fear aroused by the outer world, he loses his inner consistency of character. Such inconsistency invariably leads to distressing experiences.I think this is a helpful piece of advice for me. Because theres still a lot unknown about the disease I have, I can sometimes feel like Im at the mercy of whatever someone else (whether its a doctor or a caregiver or a journalist) thinks about me. I think its important for me to try and stay focused on myself and how to make the best of my life with this illness. Dont read articles about it and when a doctor doesnt understand - dont get hung up about it. Easier said than done maybe, but something to work on :).The resulting hexagram is 40 (Deliverance). That does sound hopeful. Also, it contains another really helpful piece of advice: One thing is important, however: in such times we must not overdo our triumph. The point is not to push on farther than is necessary. Returning to the regular order of life as soon as deliverance is achieved brings good fortune. Im going to keep that in mind!For my follow-up reading I decided to ask: what can I do myself to improve my health?. This reading really spoke to me, especially when I read the changing lines. The first hex I got was 31 (Influence/Wooing). The second line changes, which stands for the calf, which is moved by the foot and cant move or stand still on its own. The advice is to wait for a real influence before acting. According to the commentary in Wilhelm/Baynes, this line is actually related to the fifth line (which is also a changing line for me). This one stands for the neck - which is the part that should create the influence on the second line. It talks about the neck branching out everywhere, like roots. Wherever these roots are healthy, the branches are as well. This rang so true for me. My illness is probably caused in the nervous system/brain stem. What this reading says for me, is that only when my nervous system is giving the right signals again, should I start to act and move again. Until then, Im still bound by where the foot (my illness) decides to move and should I stay put and make the best of it.This hexagram resulted in 32 (Duration) again - so it all came full circle.What do you guys think? Does this all make sense to you or are there other ways of reading this all?Thanks!
