Hello everyone.
I live in Germany, but I'm originally from Scotland. I have been trying for some years to become a full time writer, while also teaching undergraduates for a living and writing academic work. I've written poetry, two novels and I'm finishing an academic book.
I have published some poems and I got an agent to represent me for the novels but they didn't get published. However, they were written when I was in my 20s and I think they had potential but were part of a learning process. I am now in my mid-thirties and finishing a long book on an academic subject which is contracted to be published the year after next.
I have also been fortunate this year to inherit a large sum of money which I have invested in property and offers me enough of an income that I can live for several years without having to have a job. (This would mostly work if I stayed in Germany where property is cheaper than in southern England where i have invested it.) In fact, as long as I stay in Germany, I could probably manage without full time work ever again. (Yeah my friends are all currently lacking in sympathy for my 'plight.' And I dont blame them.)
However, full time writing is a daunting prospect. Obviously I'm not going to keep pressing on indefinitely if I don't get anywhere. So I'm giving myself three years to get things going - to get a couple of books out. I am not expecting or aiming to make a lot of money but just to get my work out there and find an audience.
I asked the Yi, what can i expect if i stick to my plan to make a career as a writer on, largely, my own terms?
I received the reply 63.3.5>24.
I'd be very grateful if anyone could give me any tips on how to interpret these lines. Thank you very much. G
