Dear Community,
This is my first posting here, after a year reading and learning from you all. I decided today would be a good day to join and ask for your collective wisdoms.
Here is my situation. I have been at a job for 2 1/2 months and in that time the owner of the company replaced my boss. My new boss has been really funny but he is gossipy and lewd, which is funny, but not appropriate for the work environment. He demanded more money from the owner of the company, after working there for 1 month, and did not get his demands. So, he is quitting and is finishing out the month. Meanwhile, the owner asked me to replace him.
Yesterday night, my lame duck boss was so rude to a customer and basically called her stupid. Then, he blamed me for his argument with her. I left the job in tears. I don't want to return ever. I don't want to talk to anyone from that company again. I don't want the main boss to convince me to stay and to take on the responsibility of running his company. But, if I never go back I will not have as much income--I will just be living off of student loans for the remainder of the semester. Basically beans and rice till January.
I asked the Iching: "Is it the right thing to do to never go back to the XXX XXX?"
Hexagram 37.1 "Family Duties" changing to 53 "Gradual Progress"
The Superior Person weighs his words carefully and is consistent in his behavior. Be as faithful as a good wife. One in this situation must be keenly aware of his influence on others. Maintain a healthy respect for the ripple effect of your words and deeds. To some you serve as a role model. You can either help shape their world or tilt them into chaos. Show temperance and consideration to all.
WHAT! Does that mean I need to continue to be at this crazy company as a role model? Or, should i just focus on my own family and my last semester at college? I love my college life, I love my home life. This job attempts to create a family atmosphere but it falls flat. Is the Iching telling me to create that stability for them? I am so distraught.
