I had a friendly neighbors dog visiting me last summer he was very friendly and I always fed him and played with him, then his owner took him away as the dog was spending a lot of time on the streets and others were complaining of his barking being an annoyance. I did not saw him for a long time and I wondered if he is still alive

I see that the fact I spent time with him was not wasted and that I should not blame myself for what happened (I often think that if I wasnt feeding the dog he would probably still be with his owner) but I dont know how to interpret this :(
