Vocational Success 18.2>52

Hi there - I am a long time reader and first time poster. I have been using the I Ching for about 10 years and have been indebted to this forum for many useful insights along the way. I am posting now in hopes of some help with a throw this morning. I am at the apex of major transition: newly 30, I moved back to NY from LA where I had spent much of the year sick, then recovering from surgery, then moving (and I am also currently one week post break up). I am a writer, editor and a mythologist but have not held steady work, besides small publishing here and there, for a long time. I am currently waiting to hear back from one writing job that I was recommended for by a friend but I don't know when or if that will come through. I have some possibilities in the ether: workshops to propose to an interested healing center and pieces of writing for potential publication (the offer already expressed to me) to finish. But what is certain is that I do not have a solid vocational identity or routine in place and have not had one for a very long time. All the possibilities that currently stand depend on me and my discipline and belief, which I am actively working with, but finding my footing after all the change is a challenge. I have been advised by the I Ching in other throws lately to be resting at this moment in time, and allowing for a big shift in the unconscious to take place, advice I have been heeding. But today, inspired by some reading, I asked:How can I find vocational success? I received 18.2>52At first, I thought perhaps that my position I am in stems from a strange freedom I have had in the last couple of years to not be working and that I will have an emotional response to feeling behind and/or unsettled in vocation. To be gentle with myself in this emotionality but that I am aware of mistakes and must make changes. However, this is confusing to me because the energy of the related hexagram counsels stillness while the energy of 18 says get to work! Those changes remain opaque and I'm sure it's possible that the I Ching is just reflecting my question back to me. Then I wondered if perhaps the book was telling me that this is an emotional question, stemming from the swirlings of change and the deep yin energy of courting renewal during this time of year. And if so, perhaps this is the book telling me I am having an emotional response that needs to be rectified and that this query is more of an expression of an emotional state than an active query. Any thoughts would be so greatly appreciated. With thanks,Laura
