I recently published a first collection of poems, a huge step for me who have wanted to be a writer all my life and at 37 have been working towards this for 20 years. I am happy with the poems but not many people buy or read them of course. I shared them with an acquaintance of mine who is a published poet with some experience; he asked to buy them and I gave him the link to buy them. I never heard from him, as to what he thought of them. This was months ago. I guess I was a bit disappointed, but not devastated.
Out of curiosity, though, I did ask the Yi, 'what did X think of my poems?'
Maybe this is a poorly phrased question. One shouldn't spy in such matters, perhaps. But I just yielded to temptation.
I received the reply 57.5 to 18. My interpretation of this is that he thinks the poems are flawed but promising, a first step towards a better command of the form. But I wondered if anyone else had any other thoughts.
Thank you very much,
Gael
